Cold March mornings row trolling aren’t always fun, however with a Hinckley flutter spoon on you never know what’s going to happen. After trying several larger spoons with no strikes I decided to downsize to a two tone Nickel/Copper 35. The spoon was out at two colors when I locked the reel and three strokes later this brown hit. I caught three more after that first fish on the same spoon. Downsizing spoons is very effective for producing fish if your old reliable big spoon isn’t working. Yes the old saying of big bait equals big fish is true however small flutter spoons at the right speed are very effective when fish aren’t biting.
The 35 is an all around great trolling spoon that mimics small alewives (sawbellies). The spoon catches any species of trout, and in fall months it produces some giant suspended smallmouth bass.
